Guild banned for wall-hacking

Gamespot has the story of one of the uber-guilds getting banned by Blizzard for using wall-hacks to reach C'thun. Apparently they didn't want to bother with killing the less lucrative bosses in AQ40. Gives you a whole new view on what it means to be an uber-guild.
Comments:
Of course there's many people now laughing at that so called über guild, and they propably deserve it if the have been snobbish jerks, but it also makes me wonder about the dungeon design. Why can't you have a legit short cut to the boss you want to do, and skip the ones you don't? I sertainly think that would be better design from gameplay and "fun" perspective.

It is even more incomprehensible knowing the instance design of zul'gurub which I would call good, modern mmog-design.
leashed mobs and kind of free choice of boss to kill, while the endboss is connected with the other bosses to determine the level of difficulty.

Ha ha! Wall hacking! Literally! The hack they used actually removed the walls! Oh boy, that's funny on so many levels :)

The thing I find really amazing about this story is that this wasn't just some random group of Gold farmers. This was one of the top raiding guilds in the world, the only US horde guild to down Kelthuzad as far as I know. These people must have know that a banning would result. Just think of the thousands of hours these players must have invested in their uber leet gear only to lose it because of a stupid cheat. It sounds like they had some kind of death wish.

I definitely don't agree with hacking content but, the guild I'm in can clear everything up to and including Huhuran (that's 5 bosses?) in a few hours time, yet it takes that same amount of time to do the trash leading up to Twin Emps and the trash after leading up to C'Thun??? It just seems bassackwards.

How did Blizzard catch them in the first place?

One assumes Blizz must have MI like any other company. You would want to keep a check on how long it takes raids to get to certain places - gives you an idea of the overall difficulty vs gearing up curve.

Then someone pops onto the top of your list, having done it several hours quicker than anyone else.
