Pirates of the Burning Sea release date
It's pirate day today here at Tobold's blog, and the last post of the day is the official announcement of the Pirates of the Burning Sea release date: January 22 2008. So if you preorder the game, you can play starting from January 7. I had hoped they would release the game still before christmas, but apparently they weren't ready. And I'd rather wait than having a botched release.
Earlier the devs said they wouldn't do an "open" beta, but apparently they are going to do something very similar and just call it something else. Quote: "Yes, we will be doing a very large-scale beta when we’re closer to launch. Far more people will get a chance to play than ever have before. The NDA will go away and the world will get a real look at what we’ve been making. We aren’t ready to announce the details of this mega beta period, but look for more news later this fall."

Not really, pendan. The game was "ready" according to FLS for June release, but it got pushed back because of EU and US distribution problems and not realizing how long it would take to set that stuff up.
So with the extra time, the game's been getting extra polish, but I think if it was "ready" for launch in June, it'll be damned nice and ready come January 6 months later.

It's not too uncommon of a thing to see a release date pushed back for MMOs. The market for these types of games is still unstable and only polished games really stand a chance of makeing a good profit for the companies.
Bildo, I don't think you or FLS realizes the kind of issues a stress test can bring up. Least they doing this 3 months before release. AO did their stress test 3 days before release. They then had working software about 6 months or more later.
