What WoW UI mod to display quest levels?

I am a big fan of knowing what exactly the level of the quest is that I am doing in World of Warcraft. Not just a color code, but the exact level. Thus I can do the lower level quests first and avoid having them go grey on me, for example. Patch 2.3 apparently changed the quest interface, and the UI mod I was using for years now, called Questlevels, was no longer working. If I had Questlevels on, it messed up the quest window of the NPCs, so for example I couldn't take the daily quest at Skettis any more, because all I saw was a column of golden dots.

So I went out and searched the various WoW UI mod sites for a quest level display mod which was up to date for patch 2.3 and I found QuestGuru. It not only displays the quest level, it also changes the quest window into a wide format showing the quest list and the quest you click on in detail at the same time. It even makes it easier to read the quest text, by coloring the names of NPCs and places. Very nice!

The only problem I have is that since I use that, the NPC quest window has the text "Bonus Honor:" written somewhere at random near the bottom, sometimes covering some quest text or reward. I assume that is a bug somewhere in the QuestGuru mod, but I don't know if other people have the same problem, and whether the mod programmers are aware of it.

Are you using an UI mod to display the quest levels in WoW? Which one, and is it working without problems with patch 2.3? Please limit discussion to UI mods regarding quests and the quest interface. There are far too many UI mods out there to discuss them all in one thread.
Comments:
I use alot of mods so it could be something else thats giving me quest lvls but I'm pretty sure mine is "questFu" by far my most useful mod. its part of a bar mod called FuBar if you didn't already know that.

I think its called "QuestLogLevelPatch" or similar....thats from memory, I cn check when I get home

My favorite mod for questing is called "Lightheaded." It adds a window to the quest log that provides the comments from wowhead.com, so no more alt-tabbing. Of course, after leveling 2 characters to 70, discovering quests and following the stories lost its importance to me, so I choose to rush through content at this point.

UberQuest does just that, and it works perfectly with 2.3.

I use and recommend LightHeaded too. I use that in conjunction with TomTom and am able to click on coordinates in the Wowhead forum section of the quest box and have a marker appear on my mini-map.

I haven't reloaded my mods since the patch, so I don't know how they work now after 2.3

Yep, LightHeaded rocks. Here's the link:

I also recommend LightHeaded. Basically it shows quest levels, makes your quest log screen double wide, and in the other half it integrates comments left on Wowhead about the quest. If you have TomTom you can click on the coordinates left in the comment, and you will get a marker to the coordinates on your minimap. It also supports accurate coordinates such as (44.32, 55.64), which is really nice when you are trying to find things in a cave.

I want to second QuestsFu, because I wrote it, and because it does a number of useful things. These are excellent reasons. (Also, it doesn't actually require FuBar.)

Also, I don't really like mods like QuestGuru which give a quest history. It seems rather pointless -- largely because it can't be relied upon. (If WoW crashes addons can't save data; WoW crashes infrequently but not never, and thus my quest history is not complete even if I've been using the addon since day one.)

Never tried to use questfu as a standalone, namely cus I have become so dependent on fubar over the years, But it's cool to know its possible. The main reason I stand by QuestFu so steadfastly is because of the dropdown menu listing all your current quests (and of course their lvl) configurable to only show the quests in your zone/sub-zone or just every quest you have. I hate having to open up windows for random things as it tends to break the flow of my quest grinding regimen, Not to mention I havn't needed to look up what to do on a quest in quite some time so other random features of dif mods aren't needed in my case.

May I suggest an array of mods?

beql will display quest levels, allow optional double windowing, will allow more quests to be displayed in the tracker than before and make the tracker movable.

Someone else mentioned lightheaded. It integrates well with beql and displays quest hints and location info.

One of the mightiest helper combined with lightheaded is either tomtom or cartographer with waypoints. It will give you beacons to lightheaded locations (just click the coords and either a dot on the map/minimap appear for tomtom or a big arrow pointing the way for waypoint appear). I don't use tomtom but am a big fan of cartographer (with addins) because it's a all in one map solution replacing atlas, gatherer, tomtom and more.

Finally if you quest with someone else, JasonQuest is very nice. It helps you keep taps of shared quests and their progress.

MonkeyQuest also works fine as of 2.3

I'm going to also recommend QuestFu. In addition to showing the levels it also tracks quest completion. When you're in a party and a party member picks up a quest item it shows you that they picked it up and how many they have left to get.

A little further off the original request... I'll also recommend Tourguide for efficient leveling. It essentially incorporates a leveling guide into the UI and also uses Cartographer waypoints or TomTom.

Are there any mods that list every quest, so I'll know I'm not missing any before I leave a zone?

On a side note, is there a site that tracks which mods can be trusted and which are a security risk?

Thanks

"When you're in a party and a party member picks up a quest item it shows you that they picked it up and how many they have left to get."

I would like to add the caveat that this only works if the other party member has QuestsFu, beql, nQuestLog, PartyToGo, Cartographer_Quests, GrindStatus, Dailies, or anything else that uses my quests library.

CTMod
exactly the CT_Core
any other CT module isn't essential or needed if you don't feel you need extras

another nice mod....
QuestAnnounce
having it, you'll spam partial and completing quest messages in party chat.
Is nice as others will know that killing a Blue Foozle is a quest for you and that you need x over n of them to complete.

messages are like:
Dragonmaw Peon Disciplined 1 of 20 (19 left)

and when you complete:
The Booterang: A Cure For The Common Worthless Peon (Completed)

Oh yea, I use a mod called Doublewide from the maker of lightheaded / TomTom which makes the quest window double-wide.

I suggest either MonkeyQuest or QuestFu - both are updated as they need to be and easily found. If you use the WoWAce updater, then go for QuestFu as MonkeyQuest isn't Ace based.

As a few have mentioned, Lightheaded is also a nice addition. Cartographer also has some interesting mods, such as Cartographer_QuestObjectives and Cartographer_Quests that will actually give you !'s and ?'s on your map to show you were to go to pick up/complete quests. The data for QuestObjectives is also available en masse if you go to the Ace forums (vs compiling it yourself).

Have fun!!

At which point do mods trivialize the game?

All that's missing is a button that says, "do this quest for me".

Fastquest
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/3558/

along with the above lighthead addon works wonders for me.

DoubleWide for the wider quest log;
QuestLogLevelPatch for the quest numbering;
Lightheaded for quest comments/coordinates from WoWhead;
TomTom to show those coordinates on map/minimap.

When on a "quest spree", I'll first check all quests for the zone and, for each one, will quickly browse the comments to click on any coordinates given. That will create a temporary marker on both map and minimap.
When I'm done, I open up the map, take a look at all the green dots and try to plan a route through all or most of them. So, I go and do a bunch of quests and then turn them all at once with no needless running back and forth.

An added advantage of LightHeaded is that many quests have comments such as "do this other quest with it" and many of those are clickable and I can then click on the quest giver so I can find out where he is and go there grab it, or sometimes it's a different step of a current chain, so I'll simply re-do my path to try and accommodate doing both at once...

Questing has never been the same for me after LightHeaded! :)

I see your point. I'm sceptical about installing Lightheaded, it might give me too much information.

Good think about addons is that you can choose to install them.

About lightheaded: It's like WoWhead, but without alt-tabbing.

If you don't want it for a specific quest you can keep it minimized, so you won't ever see the info unless you want it.

But just like reading up on quest clues on wowhead is optional lightheaded certainly is too ;)

+1 for QuestFu and FuBar. It simply displays the level information and all current quests in a mouseover window. Nothing overly too informative like coords or history, so I still have to hunt that down if I really want it, which is the way I prefer to play.

I like FuBar in general as I find the HUD approach to useful. 99% of my addons are informative and don't perform any actions for me - I still like to play the game myself :)

nQuestLog and Lighthead for me.

You can turn the Lighthead info off when you don't want it, you can select the level range on which you want to have it on and so on.

Works miracles and has gotten me to try the formerly 'impossible' quests too.
