Spending Badges of Justice
There are so many things you can buy for badges of justice, you end up having difficulties to decide. But for once I indulged myself and instead of saving for some healing item, I took something that will help my priest a lot when soloing: the Carved Witch Doctor's Stick. The stats are okay-ish for a healer, but the important thing is the 175 damage per second. My previous wand only had 125 dps. As soloing with a holy priest consists of bubbling up and killing mobs with your wand, wand damage is extremely important. This wand is excellent for me. I'll buy some healing stuff with the next batch of badges. :)

Ahh its nice to read bloggers that are so young to raiding and the WoW end game. I remember when I too had that exciting sparkle in my eye when things were new and exciting in BC!

I find alot of healers socketing that wand with a +18 healing gem, or something similar.
Might be worth thinking about, no? :).

have you considered casting Renew instead of Power Word: Shield?
On my lvl 56 priest: Renew costs 365 mana for 1009 health, while PW:S costs 425 mana but only protects me from 810 damage ... so Renew looks to be the better option. Those numbers would be different for your lvl 70 priest, and different again depending on what gear you have. PW:S does have the extra benefit of preventing spell casting interruptions due to damage taken ... but wanding isn't spell casting so that doesn't matter.
There could also be situations where the damage you take from the mob is too slow and some of the Renew ticks go to waste.
I usually open with Holy Fire followed by Mind Blast .. by which time they are right up in melee so I hit them with Shadow Word: Pain and then myself with Renew, followed by wanding.
I can only advise that you experiment with it to see how it works out for you.

Actually your choice wasn't so bad for a healer ;)
If you socket the above mentioned +18 healing gem, your Carved Witch Doctor's Stick is of the same value as the Blue Diamond Witchwand from the Crone (Opera Event, Karazhan), perhaps even better. You'd get more +heal, int and stamina and lose a bit spirit.
