Deleted my Twitter account
I kept getting mail about new people following me on Twitter, although I had stopped updating that about the time Wrath of the Lich King came out. So as I wasn't using my Twitter account anyway, I deleted it, to not disappoint people waiting for me to say something there.
I made the Twitter account to test it out, but found that it wasn't something I really enjoyed. I can't express my thoughts properly in less than 140 characters. Plus I have a personal aversion against services that lead people to reveal too much of their private lifes. "Got up", "brushed my teeth", "had toast for breakfast", etc. is an extremely boring, if accurate, way to record our daily existence. And when people try to hide how boring their life is by posting half-naked drunken photos of themselves on Facebook, they only manage to destroy their chances when applying for a job later at a company with a tech-savy human resources department.

Thankyou thankyou thankyou, it is so good to hear someone else that feels that same way about this "phenomenon" that is actually a complete pile of rubbish. The original intent of social networking has been lost by the overtaking of the drunken photo's, inane life descriptions etc.
Anyway, I have never commented on your (or anyone elses for that matter) blog so thought I would take the opportunity to say well done and keep up the good work :)

This is the reason I don't use sites like Facebook / Myspace / Twitter / etc. If you use them the way they're intended to be used you only harm yourself in the long run. If I ever *did* decide to use social networking services, it would solely be used as a personal PR site.
I have a telephone. I have an e-mail address. People can still get ahold of me without me having to put myself out in front of everyone and make a spectacle of myself.

Freedom of choice and differing views. That's what it all comes down to. I'm twittering and I have been blessed with a great bunch of people who follow me and whom I follow. In a way twittering amends my blogging and so it seems to be with quite a bunch of people.
And as far as personal hygiene is concerned, I'm in the same boat with Tobold: my real person and the gaming person are separate and thus not too easy to connect in any context.
I like it that way.
