New priest 1.10 talent calculator

For everybody interested in the changes to the priests talents upcoming in patch 1.10, Blizzard put up a new talent calculator. I put together a holy/discipline template for Kyroc, tell me what you think of it.

Unfortunately Improved Power Word: Shield was heavily nerfed, now just adding a bit to the damage absorbed, while before it halved the cooldown. The shadow talents also got weaker, in general. But other talents got improved, and I think the holy branch gained a lot. So basically priests will get a bit worse in soloing, and a lot better in healing in a group. Good that Kyroc is already level 57. :)
Comments:
That's the first time I have to disagree with you ;)

PW:S was *not* nerfed. The weakened soul effect has now a duration of 15 seconds *per default*, so PW:S got a nice boost! See Eyonix' sticky posting in the US priest forum.

Why do you think that the shadow talents get weaker? The changed Improved Fade is better in the new version imo, and the Improved Vampiric Embrace is great. The other talents remained unchanged, or did I oversee something?

I do of course agree with you that the Holy branch was boosted by a good amount, almost all talents there are useful now (reduction of mana cost of PoH is still useless for me, I rarely cast that and usually combine it with Inner Focus, so it costs no mana anyway).

What I find a fascinating aspect of the Lightwell is that it's "reversing" the healing process. Usually the healing is a "push" process, where the healer decides whom to heal, now it is a "pull" process where the consumer decides to get a heal. This will add some form of flexibility/creativity, which is always good in a game. For a judgement of the usefulness of the Lightwell I think we have to wait for a clarification of it's exact function (Eyonix mentioned that you can drink from the well and bandage yourself at the same time, so it's obviously not channeled as many people expect it to be).

I agree with Anon. above - I don't see that Blizzard weakened the Shadow talent tree at all. In fact, they removed some of the dependencies allowing a Shadow Spec to be more flexible with the talents the player chooses to take. Otherwise it's close enough to pre-1.10 that I don't see any significant changes, which fits since the Shadow line was not underpowered (imo) pre-1.10 like the other 2 Priest Talent lines.

I generally like the changes made to Holy & Disc. The new 31-point talents look intriguing and I like that Divine Spirit is now a 21-point under Disc.

As for your spec, and taking into account that my Priest is all of level 24 and I have no actual basis for my opinions... I would wait to commit to Lightwell until I see what it does and how it works. I have a suspicion that I personally won't like that talent very much.

If I don't like Lightwell, I'd dump Lightwell, Spirit of Redemption, Imp PoH, and Spiritual Healing. (Personally, I don't like the new Imp PW:S so I'd dump that too. And I'm a fan of Unbreakable Will over Wand Spec though that's personal preference all the way.) I'd spend points to get Divine Spirit, putting 3 in Meditation and let's say 4 in Unbreakable Will. I have 3 points leftover for either the 5th in Unbreakable Will, Mental Strength, Holy Spec or Spiritual Healing.

(Just my thoughts.)

I finally got Eyonix's post on the Priest Forum to load for me (I think the class forums were down for some of yesterday). I take back some of my comments above. Going 31-deep in Holy, if you're aiming to be an excellent PvE Healer, looks wonderful. :)
