Who's my main?

In general I'm pretty happy to have two level 60 characters now in World of Warcraft. The idea is to play both, and switching as needed. I can join a guild group and ask as what I should show up, warrior or priest, depending on what classes the other guys play. When soloing, I would do different things with the two characters too, for example picking flowers with my herbalist/alchemist warrior, or farming reputation for an enchantment recipe with my tailor/enchanter priest.

But the prospect of patch 1.10 coming soon made me realize that new content will force me to make a decision of who of my characters is my "main" and will do the new stuff first, with the other character either doing it later or not at all. Who will finish collecting his tier 0 set and do the quest series to upgrade to 0.5 first, and do I really want to do that twice? That will become extremely relevant when the Burning Crusade comes out, and I will need to decide who to level to 70 first.

Right now the sign point towards Kyroc the priest being my "main". I don't really have a personal preference between tank and healer role, and like both equally well. But in my guild groups a priest is much more welcome at the moment than a warrior, due to a relative oversupply of warriors compared to priests. Actually quite a lot of my guild mates with warriors made a priest or mage as alt, so there is little chance of there ever being no warrior available, somebody can always log on his alt.

Raslebol will always have a special place in my heart, being my first character in now 7 years of playing MMORPG who ever hit the level cap of the game I'm playing. And I'll certainly level him up to 70 too. But I guess he'll come after Kyroc in that, and I think I'll skip the tier 0.5 upgrade quest series for him.

Will you be tempted to join the few thousand on your server to start a new character with one of the two new "races"?

I am leaning towards getting to 70 then starting a new toon with the new "races"

I've chosen to "retire" my 1st 60, my Paladin. I've made my current-main (2nd 60 - Warlock) my primary focus, completely ignoring further advancement of the Paladin.

For me, I just hate playing a Healadin in 40-man raids. I want to hit things with my shiney weapons!

However, once 1.10 hits, I may opt to get my Paladin some or all of his 0.5 gear while my 'lock will only get 3 pcs of 0.5, tops. The Paladin has two T1 pcs, chest and boots. He has all of his Dungeon1 pcs - I saved them. He might actually use some or all of the 0.5. My 'lock is raiding MC and getting better gear (Felheart). She only has 4 pcs of Dungeon1 so she'd have to get the other 4 and some of the 0.5 is a downgrade for her from current gear - namely robes, shoulders and gloves. So why bother?

Anyways, those are the factors that go into my 2 60's. I'm not even contemplating the expansion yet.

I feel ya. I've been amusing myself playing various alts but that will have to change with 1.10. Life on dog-eat-dog PVP server necessitates that you upgrade armor as new sets become available. And unless you want to be fodder when the xpac comes out, all 60s will need to race to level 70.

I don't know which toon I'm going to focus on. The obvious choice would be my Warlock who is already in epic gear but I'm a bit burned out on her.

what a dilema. hope you are able to make a descion that you are happy with

My first char was a female undead warrior, but when I realized that there was a shortage of priests I made one. Low and behold I prefer playing my female priest (troll) now and consider her my main char. It is nice to sit in Org getting a tell saying "we only need a priest and we are ready to go...", I never got that on my warrior.

I am sure I'll be bringing them both to 70 once the expansion comes out, but my priest will come first. :)
