WoW Journal - 27-June-2006
I've had one of the most disappointing pickup group experiences in the Stockades last night, making me really angry. The group consisted of my priest, a mage, and three warriors. One of the warriors tanked, the other two dealt damage, so it went quite well. We first took the left branch, reached the boss at the end, and wiped while killing him. Only one guy in the group got the quest item. When we zoned back in, the mobs in the hallway had respawned, and we couldn't get back to the corpse to loot him before he despawned. So we went right, to the tougher boss, Bazil. In spite of 3 warriors in the group, they didn't manage to taunt Bazil off me, and I died. But everybody else survived, looted Bazil's head, and then they all just left. Nobody stayed to help me get through the respawned trash mobs, so I never got the quest item. :( Two bosses downed with no quest item for me, and in the second case I would just have needed a bit of help to get it. Really disappointing how people aren't willing to help other players who helped them.
Afterwards I did some more quests in Redridge, and leveled to 25. But then I found a group to Shadowfang Keep and went there for loot and xp. Excellent group, we cleared SFK very fast and without any wipe. But none of the drops were useful for me, Arugal dropped his belt again, and so I only ended up with loot for selling.

I had a similar experience. A PUG with 2 warriors, a rogue, a priest and me (a warlock). When dowing the final boss, the priest and I die. The warriors and rogues got the quest item and heartstoned immediately. The priest resurrected himself because I soulstoned him. He picked up the questitem said "got to go" on the party-chat and heartstoned and left the group.
Leaving me as a corpse in the Scarlet Monastary. When running back in, most of the mobs had respawned already. It can really ruin the fun.
Oh, on another occasion a player did a 'need' for ALL items "because he's an enchanter and NEEDs the greens to disenchant"
The other players in the party seemed to agree as I was the 'outsider' (I was not in their guild). Quickly left that party as you might have guessed.

Tobold, don't over heal....
That, and that's why I almost always only group in 5 mans with a well-balanced party. 1 tank 1 healer 1 support 2 dps/utility
with 3 warriors, i mean yea they should be taunting, but people are idiots when they're playing these games. Atleast if 1 was a rogue, he'd have poisions, you'd have sap, the rouge would have back stab and might be able to do enough damage to get bazil off you.
Or if you had a paladin, paladin might have healed you, or Protection bubble'd you, or at the very least rez you. and a warlock coulda had you sulstoned. 2 many of 1 class in a group you suffer from alot of LACK of versatility

I am leveling up a priest alt at the moment and I can now tell why some of them hate everyone. The amount of times that I die due to failure to taunt is amazing. Even if you space your heals and use the heal over time it still can go horrible wrong. Not to mention that a priest misses out on the experience and loot while he runs back to the instance.
P.S. Tobold there is new scourge boss in SFK called Sever. He drops very nice cloth pants. Instead of going through the kitchen go the other way and you will run into him. He is very tough for his level though.

I know, and I'm wearing his pants. :) Actually we went through the kitchen to kill the Butcher and the Baron, and then went at Sever from behind.
On the second run he dropped a very nice blue Axe of SEVERing. Shows that even Blizzard programmers sometimes can't help making stupid puns.

It's amazing how few people play tanks and are actually good at playing them.
Insert any other class in that sentence and it remains true. That is the price we pay for playing a game which is easy to play even for non-gamers.
