Curiouser and curiouser LotRO patch

I was wrong. LotRO Europe *did* apply a patch today, but not the same one as last weeks US patch. We only got a minor bug fix patch. Farming is still as it was, and so are repair costs. Why Turbine would want to run the same game in two different versions is a mystery to me. Is that some sort of social experiment? Do they think Europeans should get the same number of days to exploit the farming profits as the US players got? I have no idea!

I'd still assume that one day they'll apply the same patch to the European servers, but I have no clue when. Next ordinary patch day would be the Tuesday in 8 days, because this Tuesday's patch was moved forward to today, because of the official release tomorrow.
Comments:
It gets even curiouser (spelling?). On our DE Server you can't buy any water or furtilizer anymore. I searched for an hour until I gave up. Seems they fixed it by blocking this? How about your server tobold?

The spelling is from Alice in Wonderland. Not correct English.

On my server there was no problem buying water and fertilizer, I bought ingredients for 10 Sweet Galenas fields and tried it. Bad luck with the poor plants yield, but otherwise all normal.

Turbine doesn't run the Euro version Tobold...
Codemasters does...

Maybe they read your blog, Tobold...

They wouldn't be the first :)

Hmm... that is interesting. I wonder what the deal is? Is the gold selling spam and farming less of an issue in EU for LotRO than it is over in the US. Perhaps because of that they're not feeling too hurried to implement the farming nerfage?

My guess is that Europe will always get patches later than US. It's a perfect package for players. Since Turbine doesn't run the show in Europe and I'm pretty sure Codemasters is a smart enough contract maker, I'm supposing they don't have to run the patches on their machines on the same schedule as they do in US - MEANING - US players test the patches for the europe players before they get implemented. This ofcourse leads to better service for European players ... maybe anyways.

I'd suppose the reason why it was nerfed in US is that level 15 character can only make so much money, but with no cap in EU, there's no pressure really. With my level 20 character I made like 1 gold farming on the closed beta, getting 100 silver / hour isn't that much when there's no level cap in the game :).

@Sare: This is the perfect package only when patches consist solely of nerfs. Which is unlikely. There's a lot of discussion on this blog about the farming, but the US patch supposedly also lowered the preposterous repair costs imposed on people using magical items. If that wasn't in yesterday's EU patch and we have to wait another 8 days for that, it's bad business. I'm afraid it may scare some people away as you sort of try and form yourself an opinion of a game in the first 10 levels.

I already find myself taking few risks when exploring, since the repair bills are simply too high and death comes pretty easily when you're not constantly grouped. Realistic? Well I don't play games for realism as much as for enjoyment. And taking risks while exploring, going for that cutting-edge mob that's actually just a bit too high level... that's fun. So I wouldn't mind if they rolled that patch in on the repair costs. And I sure hope the EU serves won't be lagging in patch applications in the future.

It was the same with DAoC, the European servers were always behind with the patches. The main reason, for DAoC at least, was that they have to translate, and test the patches before putting them live. I assume the same goes for LoTRO. Only reason I can think off.

The repair cost buff would be nice to have for us that do not wish to take advantage of the un-nerfed Farming.

However I have been finding that only repairing items that are Damaged rather than blindly hitting "Repair All" every time is saving me a bunch of silver. I strongly recommend that method, though your milage will vary depending on class and play style.

To comment on the repair issue, I played up to level 20 with my champion and never had any problems with my repair costs as long as I moved along the questline as intended instead of running around level 45 zones at level 20 :).
