I actually am pretty surprised by these numbers. I knew it was lucrative, but I had no idea it was that lucrative.

I guess a lot of people feel the need to buy gold.

Anything can be lucretive if there is a demand for it.

Ironically, why is there a demand for it? obviously the games arent fully accomidating to its own playerbase so much that services such as gold farming earn money in great stryde.

What i wonder is for every dollar spent towrds enriching your game experience thru one of these sites, is that a doller that isnt spent in the owners own economic region? Are gold farmers a mild reason for the deflating american dollar QQ?

All this says me is that some MMOs must be so boring that alot of people are prepared to pay money for someone else to play it for them. Headsup game companies, make the games more fun and less grind!

Personnally, I just move onto a new game if it's not worth playing. Sad really that people feel the need to continue playing a game that's obviously not enjoyable.
 

I'm not surprised to see the gold farming industry in healthy state.

The problem is that the companies are happy to ban gold farmers but don't punish their customers.

If and when the companies that provide these gaming services decide to punish the buyers of gold then the market will slump.

Until then any action the company takes against the farmers is simply an operating expense.
 

Can't wait to see the 2008 numbers, which I'm sure will be much much lower. Since the 2.4 dailies, I'm sure people who would have otherwise turned to one of these services to purchase gold simply earned their WoW gold the "daily" way.
