80, again
I was having lots of fun with my warrior this weekend, questing in Icecrown. Very well made zone, using phasing to great effect, so that you get the impression that you are personally responsible for pushing back the Scourge. And without really having planned to, I suddenly dinged 80. So that's the second character to the level cap done.
Now I wouldn't mind trying to go to Naxxramas with my warrior, but I don't think it will happen. For understandable reasons guilds prefer if players stick to their mains, especially if that main is a healer. But I have already geared him up with crafted and bought epics. So now I got a tank spec warrior with 542 defense, over the defense cap, and thus I should be able to find at least heroic groups. I'd love to increase stamina a bit more, right now I only have just under 25k health, but for a start that isn't all that bad. I'll see how this works out.
Besides doing heroics and finishing Icecrown with my warrior, and going raiding with my priest, I still have two other projects: Level my mage from 70 to 80, and level my druid, who is only level 14 yet. So, still a lot to do. Up to now, I'm still having fun with the Wrath of the Lich King.

- agreed it's terrific. Arguably the level up zones, which most players skip, are better than the end game activities which most players farm to death

- grats :-)

- it's a perennial problem for altoholics. I think the solution is pugging, or at least semi-pugging. When you do heroics add the competent players to a list and invite for Naxx from your list.

- Starting off in heroics as a tank is pretty hard. Make sure you cherry pick both your players and your instances. The T Rex in Gudrak will be too much for you at this stage, for instance. You will get people saying you need to have 35K life and full epics to tank heroics but they are just idiots who effectively want a boost. Good luck and have fun!

Here's the other thing about tanking--which I mention in a thread below, but I saw the argument put much better over the weekend.
Suppose a population of 10,000 raiders. That would be 2,000 5 man groups requiring 2,000 tanks, 2,000 healers and 6,000 DPS. Ten man instances would be 1,000 raid groups with the same population distribution. The 400 25 man raids, though, are composed of 1,200 tanks, 2,800 healers and 6,000 DPS (3 tanks, 7 healers, 15 DPS).
On a statistical basis, 40% of your tanks aren't going to tank 25 mans. But the do have a good shot at getting slotted as healers should they bandage spec. (This is also why my priest got slotted within an hour of dinging 80 for Naxx25, not even in a full set of dungeon blues.)

How do you deal with healer burnout if you are not allowed to bring your non-healing alts to a raid?
How funny. I took my warrior up from 77 to 80 completely through Ice Crown questing. I really enjoy the long quest lines of the zone. Now the only Wrath zone that I haven't completly quested out is Stormpeaks.
My main is a resto shaman so I know how the pressure is to be on your healer all the time.

"For understandable reasons guilds prefer if players stick to their mains..."
We actually embrace the evolution of alts - it allows people to switch to an entirely different role if needed in a pinch. You need a tank or melee DPS, I bring my paladin. Ranged DPS? I have a hunter ready to roll. HoT/AoE healing? My druid will fill the bill. And the scenarios go on...
