Blog switching to summer schedule

Summer is here! People are outside, enjoying the sun, and play less video games. And the video game industry is releasing all the good stuff in the last quarter of the year anyway. Thus there is less to discuss on a MMORPG blog, and less people to discuss it with. Furthermore, at least over here in Europe, there is high stress period before the holidays, where people are trying to get everything done before everybody leaves for 3 weeks or so of relaxation. Meaning I'm rather busy with work-related stuff right now, and then will be on holiday myself, with my internet access reduced to visits to some cyber cafe.

Thus, starting today, I will be blogging less. There will not be blog posts every day, and the open Sunday thread is cancelled as well. The blog will be back to a regular daily schedule after the summer.
Comments:
Damn. This summer's gonna be really boring now.

Have fun doing things you deem more important than 'gaming' :)

Hope you'll be back with Cataclysm ;)

I thought mainland Europe only closed for August. Or is that just France?

You do realize this only provides grist for my anti-Europe propaganda mill?

Somebody jealous for the same living standard with half the work here ? :)

You guys have 3 week holidays for everyone in the summer? That's awesome. I can't remember the last day I had a break from my regular work schedule... sad.

You're input will be missed over the summer, but I understand. We're in gaming drought season. Not a lot of new releases or information in the world of gaming during the summer. Have a good break.

In Germany you have about 30 days of vacation during a year. Varies a bit from industry to industry and your age. This is in addition to public holidays and weekends, of course.

It is generally considered normal to take 15 of these days during summer, thus you get the typical three weeks in July/August. But some people take the whole 30 days or days that remained from last year and thus get six weeks and more free time.

Germany is quite conservative here. In Finland, for example, you usually have no choice but to to not got to work during summer holidays and christmas. It's just the way it is.

Yea, here in Finland almost everyone has a summer and a christmas holiday. The entrepreneurs usually have to work during christmas and summer time and might not even have a summer holiday.

The summer holidays are usually divided to the three summer months so that not everyone on the workplace is on holiday at the same time :D. The traditional month to have your summer holiday is July. Which might have something to do with the fact that schools start at latest on the third week of August.

It's actually a small problem here every August when the european tourists start rolling in. The problem is that many companies have need for some more workforce but they can't use the students because they are already back in school.

I hope you are going to enjoy your holiday :)

Have a great holiday, Tobold. :)

Enjoying the sun? Come on Tobold, we know you live in Belgium.

Well in NA it is almost entirely dependent on your career. Most often only teachers get the whole summer off though.

Usually its 2 weeks or so at Christmas, then another 2 weeks anywhere in the year. Of course most save these for summer but some use 1 throughout year.

But, for example at my work you can earn extra days/weeks that are usable any time. And you save up your "sick days" as well.

Have a great summer everyone!
