Age of Conan delayed
Saved by the bell! I would have felt obliged to write another preview this weekend, on Age of Conan, even if that game doesn't interest me so much. But then, via Bildo, I got the news that Age of Conan is delayed to at least March 2008. Thus it disqualifies itself nicely from my "upcoming games of 2007" series. ;)

It's of course better if they wait and finish/polish the game a bit before releasing, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. AoC is one of the two (the other is WAR) MMOs that I really look forward to at the moment.
I think a lot of the previews from E3 this year were harping on it as missing this feel of cohesion. It was very unfriendly to the new user as well. So maybe, and I hope they don't go to far with this polish, they're holding off to dumb it down a little.
I just hope we don't lose the unique combat system they're touting in the process, and instead they just polish it to the point where it seems like, "Why haven't we been playing like this all along?"
Time will tell. Thanks for the link, Tobold. :)

From what I hear the combat is too complicated and difficult to pick up - confirmed by the devs. Not mentioned by the devs is the fact that the servers have horrible lag and crash constantly at present. Also not mentioned is that the basic mechanics right now are clumsy enough to make you want back your buttonmashing WoW combat.
Oh, and none of the dev comments have given me much hope that they know how the endgame is going to work - more that they'll throw a bunch of things at the wall and see what sticks. Ah well. At least it seems like the content is on track to be ready in 6 months. We need more good competitors in this market.
